Stephanie Mechura has edited documentary films for nearly 30 years, including serving as staff editor at Lucasfilm Ltd. and the Center for Investigative Reporting. Her work has premiered at Sundance, Telluride, and DOC NYC; aired on PBS Frontline, Independent Lens, and American Experience; and streams on Netflix, Apple TV, and The New York Times Op-Docs.
Stephanie’s Emmy-nominated films have received some of journalism’s highest honors, including the DuPont-Columbia Award, the Daniel Pearl Award for Excellence in Journalism, and the Nestor Almendros Award for Courage in Filmmaking.
In 2023, Stephanie received the UNAFF Best Editing award for The Movement and the ´Madman’, directed by Stephen Talbot. In 2022, Stephanie’s film Truth to Power: Barbara Lee Speaks for Me was awarded the NAACP Image Award for Best documentary, and in 2025 She Dared to Dream: Ayanna Pressley won Best Documentary Short at the Harlem International Film Festival, both films directed by Peabody Award-winning director Abby Ginzberg.
