Four travelers attempt to leave a town in Manchuria, but their bus breaks down in the middle of a country road. Not wanting to be left without shelter, they return and rent rooms at a hotel. Meanwhile, a young man named Zhicheng, a local jester who is in love with the hotel owner's daughter, meets the spirit of his ancestor.
