David Matalon (July 5, 1943 — December 2, 2025) was an American producer and production manager. He worked at Columbia Pictures International from an undisclosed time until 1982, when he departed and co-founded Tri-Star Pictures. Following his time at Tri-Star, Matalon also worked for some time as an independent producer. His credits included 1993’s What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Hear No Evil (both 1993), Color of Night (1994), and Breaking Up (1997).
Further, Matalon led day-to-day operations at Regency from 1995 to 2008. During his tenure, Regency signed an exclusive 15-year distribution pact with 20th Century Fox, helping to solidify its place in the entertainment industry.
