How to import your Letterboxd history into Filmxora

To move your Letterboxd history to Filmxora, go to letterboxd.com/settings/data, click “Export your data” and download the ZIP. Upload it to Filmxora as it is: the films in your diary are imported with the date you watched them, along with your ratings (already on a 5-star scale) and your reviews.

Step by step

  1. Open Letterboxd on the webSign in at letterboxd.com.
  2. Go to the data settingsOpen Settings → Data (letterboxd.com/settings/data).
  3. ExportClick “Export your data” and download the ZIP file.
  4. Upload it to FilmxoraIn Filmxora open Import, choose Letterboxd and upload the ZIP without unzipping it.
  5. Check and confirmLook through the preview, untick anything you do not want and confirm.

Which file in the ZIP we use

FileWhat is imported
diary.csvEvery film you logged, with its date and rating. Without a diary, watched.csv is used.
ratings.csvRatings that are not in the diary.
reviews.csvYour reviews. In Filmxora they are published as public reviews on your profile.
watchlist.csvNot imported yet.

Keep in mind

  • If you logged the same film several times, it is imported once: rewatches are not kept.
  • Reviews come in as public. If one of them was just for you, check it after importing.
  • Letterboxd is about films; to track shows episode by episode, log them in Filmxora or import them from Netflix or TV Time.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I export my Letterboxd data?
At letterboxd.com/settings/data, with the “Export your data” button. You get a ZIP you can upload to Filmxora without unzipping it.
Are half stars kept?
Yes. Letterboxd ratings are already on a 5-star scale and are saved with the same value, for example 3.5.
Are my reviews imported?
Yes, from reviews.csv, and they are published as public reviews on your Filmxora profile. If you already had a review of that film in Filmxora, no second one is created.
Is my Letterboxd watchlist imported?
Not yet. Only watched films, their ratings and their reviews are imported.
Can I keep using Letterboxd?
Yes, they are independent. If you import again later, whatever is already in Filmxora is not duplicated.
